I think these photos are really funny. The cool colors in the background really make
the pictures more intense, and the light on the water makes them look like
halos. A lot of the images look like
religious icons, which is kind of funny, too.
I also love how the spray from the balloons is shot out all over the
page. The water droplets look like
little faraway stars. The images in this
series have simple backgrounds that focus your attention right on the figure,
even though they’re really bright and interesting themselves. I especially like the photographs where the
subject has a very relaxed face. The
casual facial expressions make the photos look really candid, which is funny
because what’s happening in the photos is so offbeat and well thought out.
I like the use of a really bold figure in front of a plain
background. I’ve been thinking about doing
a series of collages with some different complex but subtle backgrounds and a
photograph of something very vivid, like a person maybe, pasted in the
foreground. I want to figure out how to incorporate
that idea into pots or plates or something ceramic, too. I’m excited to get going on some crafting with
fabric. Maybe more pillowcases for the
meantime, but I’m excited to really master my beautiful new sewing
machine.
Nicely done. Well thought out and considered. I would like you to contemplate that background thing you do (lines and such) and analyze what fascination it holds for you, or what it means to you.
